Discord Webhooks
Post formatted messages and rich embeds to Discord with dedicated Discord webhooks.
A Discord webhook delivers straight into a channel using the URL Discord generates for it. Unlike an HTTP webhook, there is no payload to parse on your side. Vanta renders a message with a live preview and posts it for you.
Setting up a Discord webhook
In Discord, go to your channel's integration settings and create a webhook to get a URL like https://discord.com/api/webhooks/.... In Vanta, create a webhook with type discord and paste that URL as the target. Then choose the event type or metric trigger that should produce a message.
Composing embeds
Use the dashboard builder to compose plain message content and up to ten embeds. Each embed can have an author, title, title link, description, accent color, footer, thumbnail, image, and up to 25 fields. Everything supports template variables, so the message reflects the real event that triggered it.
Message:
Payment failed for {{event.userId}}
Embed title:
{{event.type}}
Embed description:
Amount: ${{event.data.amount}}
Reason: {{event.data.reason}}
Field 1 (name): Account
Field 1 (value): {{event.context.account}}Template variables
Templates use double curly braces to pull values from the delivered event. Paths resolve safely: missing properties become empty strings rather than erroring. Objects and arrays serialize as JSON. Only property access is supported, so templates can never execute anything unexpected.
{{event.type}} payment_failed
{{event.userId}} user_842
{{event.data.amount}} 49.99
{{event.timestamp}} 2026-08-24T10:00:00.000ZPreview and review
The preview is a faithful replica of how Discord renders the message: click any text to edit it in place. The review step resolves every template variable against a sample event so you can confirm the final output before saving. Changes apply to future deliveries only, so you can iterate on the design without replaying old messages.
